Why is Certification Important
In the competitive world
of construction, you have to prove yourself again and again. There's
no better way to demonstrate your superior abilities than with CSI's
industry recognized professional qualifications. CSI's
Certificate/Certification Programs benefit all disciplines in the
building design and construction industry because CSI is the only
organization to represent all the members of the construction team.
With CSI certifications after your name,
you'll belong to a select and highly respected group of construction
professionals – architects, contractors, contract administrators,
specifiers, manufacturers’ representatives – known in the industry
for their comprehensive knowledge of the writing and management of
construction documents.
CSI’s CDT Certificate and advanced
certifications – CCS, CCCA, CCPR, – are recognized throughout the
industry as evidence of a proven level of education, knowledge and
experience in construction documents. These credentials demonstrate
professional commitment, credibility and reliability to employers,
colleagues, and clients.
Levels of Certification
CDT: Certified Document Technologist
The Construction Documents Technology (CDT)
Program provides a comprehensive overview for anyone who writes,
interprets, enforces, or manages construction documents. Project
architects, contractors, contract administrators, material
suppliers, and manufacturers’ representatives are all realizing the
advantages of being Construction Documents Technologists. By being
able to understand and interpret written construction documents,
CDTs perform their jobs more effectively. By understanding the roles
and relationships of all participants, CDTs improve communication
among all members of the construction team.
CCS: Certified Construction Specifier
Well-written documents are the
best insurance for any construction project, making
your role as a specifier more and more critical. CCS
certification demonstrates your excellence in
specifications and contract document preparation and
is the industry's proof that you're on top of the
complex demands of your job.
Certified Construction Contract
Administrator (CCCA) Program
The CCCA designation tells the
industry that you truly understand all facets of the
construction process and contractual relationships,
and that you're skilled at construction contract
administration in an era of complex projects,
tighter delivery schedules, and shrinking budgets.
Certified Construction Product
Representative (CCPR) Program
As a product representative,
you're a vital source of technical information for
the construction team. With CCPR certification,
you'll be a sought after industry expert with an
in-depth understanding of the overall construction
process and superior ability in the principles of
effective product representation. Plus, CCPR on your
business card means you speak the same language as
architects, engineers, specifiers, contractors and
other decision-makers – and that opens doors.
Resource
Material
It is critical for candidates to have the correct
source material in studying for the CSI
Certificate/Certification Program exam. Candidates
must be able to successfully understand, interpret,
and apply knowledge from the source materials in
order to pass an exam. Source materials are not
included in the examination fee, but are available
for purchase through CSI, AIA, and EJCDC member
organizations. Source materials may also be
available for loan from local libraries, industry
firms, colleges, CSI chapters, or colleagues. The
CSI Certificate/Certification Program exams are
based on the following source material documents:

Conditions of the Contract and
Contract Forms
-
AIA A101-2007
Standard Form of Agreement Between

-
EJCDC C-520-2007
